Message from the PTG President:

Dear West Siders,
Thank you to Edra Tepper and her committee for running a smooth and fun Holiday Boutique for our kids at West Side! Thank you to Katie Zarboutis, Denise Ioannou and their committee for the wonderful cookie boxes they assembled for our West Side Staff! Also, thank you to Jordan Smith and Lauren Jasinski for organizing the Holiday Toy Drive and thanks to everyone who donated items to help our neighbors in need at the Helping Hands Mission. Today the kids will help wrap the gifts during their recess time. Yet another example of how we teach our kids to give back. We are very thankful!! Your hard work and dedication is truly appreciated by all.
We hope many of you were able to catch the performance of “Fiddler on the Roof” by our 5th & 6th graders last weekend. We should be very proud of the kids. They did an amazing job! BRAVO!!
Please mark your calendars and we hope you attend our 1st PTG meeting of the New Year being held on Jan. 9th @9:30am at the WS Community Room. Our superintendent Mr. Fenter and our Athletics director Mr. Bongino will speak with us about the new proposed Athletic Center at the CSHHS. There will be a vote for this athletic center on Jan. 18th, so please attend this important meeting. We will also discuss the exciting events we have planned for the year. We hope to have a full house.
The PTG board wishes you and your family a safe and wonderful holiday season. May the New Year bring you all much happiness and good health! See you all in 2017!!!

Warmest Regards,
Ana

Cultural Arts:Todd Strasser will be visiting our school today! Author of 140+ novels for young people, including the “Help! I’m Trapped In… ” series for upper elementary and “The Wave” and “Fallout” for middle and high schoolers, Todd Strasser’s enriching presentations inspire and motivate average and reluctant readers and writers as well as the gifted and talented. His talk will emphasize the writing process, especially the importance of pre-writing, drafting, editing and revising.

West Side Kids Care: West Side Kids Care annual toy drive will help our neighbors at Helping Hands Mission. This year, the Mission is in need of articles of warmth (hats, gloves, scarves) for each age group. It would be very helpful if you could include one of these items with your gift. Donations were due yesterday and wrapping will take place today during recess. As always, all are welcome to come in and help the children wrap. If you would like to contribute, the needs are as follows:

Mrs. Ryan/Mrs. Santoro: Girls ages 0-2 stuffed animal/small age appropriate toy

Mr. Farmer/Dr. Dawkins: Boys ages 0-2 stuffed animal/small age appropriate toy

Mrs. Dopico/Ms. Dudek/Mrs. Manning: Girls ages 3-5 small baby doll/ small age appropriate toy

Mr. Arloff/Mrs. Scanlon: Boys ages 9-12 small Legos, action figures, sports ball, cars

Ms. Agnello/Mrs. Gerver/Mrs. DeRosa: Girls ages 9-12 lotion, perfume, nail polish set/small craft item

Toys will be collected in your child’s classroom. Please contact Lauren Jasinski (jasinski.lauren@gmail.com) or Jordan Smith (jordan_kenna@yahoo.com) with any questions. Thank you for your generosity. Happy holidays!
