Dear West Side Families,

What an exciting two weeks!
First off I would like to welcome Bari Corbin as our new VP of Communications!
Thank you to Vicky Roberts and Kimberly Lynch for filling the planters at West Side with lovely fall plants. Our entrance looks beautiful and is appreciated by all.

Our WS Win was an amazing success with 194 tickets sold and 75% of families participating! Congratulations to the Celestino, Lipman and Vitagliano families as our raffle winners! Many thanks again to the Gagnon family for hosting and to Keelin and her Committee! It truly was a very special evening.

The Book Fair was also very successful with many parents taking advantage of Family time and shopping with students during their scheduled time as well. Hats off to Nicole Pultz and Jill DeMarco and to all of the moms, who gave so generously of their time to help with the set-up, shopping and break down of the event.

Our Halloween Dance was very well attended and a great time was had by all. From the dancing, tattoos and enjoying yummy treats, the miles of smiles was a wonderful thing to see! Thanks to Elise Jusko and her amazing committee for putting together such a fun time for all. Our thanks also go out to Scarsella’s for always doing such a wonderful job decorating the Main entrance to the school. Many thanks to all who baked and brought in treats for all of our children to enjoy and to our JHS/HS volunteers for all their hard work!

Our traveling map has arrived and the students are enjoying their experiences in North America!

The next CPC meeting will take place this Thursday at the District Office at 9 AM. Our next PTG meeting will be next Tuesday in the Community Room at 9:30 AM.

Please remember that there is early dismissal Friday and no school Monday, November 11.

Fondly,

Lolita

WS WIN:

Thank you to all the families who supported our annual West Side Win raffle fund raiser. We sold 194 tickets!!! A huge thank you to the Gagnon family for welcoming us into their home to celebrate the Win! It was a wonderful night and we raised a lot of money for our WS cultural arts and PTG sponsored events.

CSH EDUCATION FOUNDATION:

“Creating New Pathways to Learning”
Wed., Nov. 6th at 7pm at the CSH Library
Please join us to find out about the exciting opportunities for educational and learning transformation at CSH schools through innovative technology. In a quest to enhance learning, the CSH School District recently hired an Ed Tech Consultant, Bruce Friend. He, along with CSH School District Administration, will be on hand to present their goals and to answer your questions.

WS BOOK FAIR:

It was so wonderful to see how excited the children were to shop for a great selection of books at the annual West Side book fair. Much thanks to Susan Visconti, Dana Lynch, Janice Mullen, Kimberly Lynch, Randi Weiss, Suzanne DiMaio, Andrea Will, Keelin Gagnon, Danielle Vitagliano, Ingrid Wright, and Lolita Reichbach who volunteered their time to help make the fair such a success.
Nicole Pultz and Jill DeMarco

HALLOWEEN DANCE:

I would like to thank the members of The Halloween Dance Committee; Sheila Acker, Kimberly Lynch, Sierra Mittleman, Kristyn Mulada, Grace Cover, Aviva Franz, Sandra O’Grady, Jen Henick, Michelle Schmidt and Suzanne Nemshin. Without their hard work and creativity we would not have been able to plan such a great night. Many thanks to Kathleen Milana for assisting Kimberly Lynch in decorating our cafeteria, it looked amazing!
Thank you, Elise Jusko

WEST SIDE KIDS CARE:

Our Annual Winter Coat Drive was a success. A total of 4 large bags of coats will be dropped off to the Helping Hands Rescue Mission this weekend. Thanks to all of you who gave warmth!
A very large first delivery was made from West Side’s Food Pantry to the children served by the Tri Community Youth Agency. Thanks for your donations and keep them coming! All food type is welcome, especially healthy after-school snacks.
Thank you to all who donated their Halloween candy to the troops. West Side collected a whooping 47lbs. of candy which Huntington Bay Dental will ship off to the CPL. Christopher G. Scherer: “Leave no Marine behind project.” I am sure the troops will be delighted to receive our donation!
Next up…Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive coming in November
If anyone has any questions, ideas or wants to volunteer, please contact Dana Lynch.
