Message from the PTG President:
Dear West Siders,
Our annual West Side Camp Out is this weekend!! Whether you are staying overnight snug in your tent or just staying for a bit, you will have a nice time! This is a wonderful family event filled with great community spirit. Thank you to Allison Monaco and Allison Standerwick for chairing our camp out!! We look forward to seeing many families on Saturday.
To all our committee chairs, if your binders are ready, please return them to the main office for Nicole Pultz. Please send in all of your receipts for reimbursement to Eileen Byrnes ASAP so we can finish closing out the school year. Class moms, please have your paperwork ready with the breakdown of class dues expenses and return to Tara Belfi. Thank you all for volunteering. Your time and efforts are truly appreciated!
Field Day was rescheduled to Wednesday, June 8th. Opening Ceremony will begin at 9:10am. A PTG sponsored BBQ will be provided for the children after the morning festivities. Our children’s artwork will be on display for all to admire. A table will be set up where you can sign up for our summer garden co-op. The hero project sports equipment drive/tag sale will take place during Field Day as well. All sales proceeds will be donated the Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of Nassau County. Kudos to Drew Pultz and his hero project committee for organizing this tag sale. The flyer is attached below.
West Side Run Thank you:
Congratulations to all who participated in this year’s West Side Run! We had 254 runners come out despite the wet weather to share in this fantastic day!! A huge Thank You to our committee members, Ted Hilton, Scott Bowden, Carol Solinger, Jack Sergi, Mrs. Fastuca and Ana Shammah who are an amazing team!! Thank you to our wonderful custodial staff who set-up and clean up in record time. Thank you to Mr. Simon for his tremendous support of this great event. Thank you to all the teachers both past and present who helped with registration, timing, medals, and clean up. Mea Sergi, Nancy Hennegan, Linda Soupios, Margaret Diehl, Bonnie Dawkins, Jim Farmer, Kim Villa, Debbie Levesque, Bill Arloff, Julie Glass, and Elsie Bowden. We couldn’t have the event without them! We also had an amazing turn out of student volunteers. Many thanks to the girls High School Track Team. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out. Field Day: WS Field Day is Wednesday, June 8th. Come cheer for the children while they participate in the various field day activities. The PTG has a nice surprise for the children this year. There will be a PTG sponsored BBQ for the children after the festivities. If you can help during field day or with grilling please contact Cat Bauer email@example.com
The sports equipment tag sale will take place during field day so come and shop. All proceeds will go to Big Brothers/Big Sister of Nassau County.
Camp Out: Come join other West Side families for loads of fun and enjoy some quality family time! Set up begins at 3pm on Saturday, June 4th.
Games and activities will begin at 4:30pm. There will be a BBQ of hamburgers and hot dogs and a campfire with s’mores! At nighttime there will be a movie shown on a large screen on the lawn. We will also be serving freshly popped popcorn. Coffee, bagels and juice will be served Sunday morning for our sleepover guests.
Bring your tents, sleeping bags, chairs, flashlights, and bug spray!
Also, do not forget to pack plenty of snacks and beverages for your family.
Please RSVP to the punchbowl invite sent with comment indicating the number of adults and children attending and if you are staying for dinner and breakfast.

ATTN: ALL 6TH GRADE FAMILIES: Mark your calendars!! Monday, June 20th @10am is the 6th grade graduation ceremony at the PAC. Following the ceremony will be the Graduation Party being held at the Harbor Club at Prime from 12-3pm! The Punchbowl invite for the 6th grade graduation party was sent, so Please RSVP! Please send in your checks payable to WSS-PTG to the main office in an envelope labeled 6th grade graduation- Attn: Marilena DiScala as soon as possible so we can have an accurate head count for the venue. Please note on your check how many adults/children you are paying for.
