Message from the PTG President:
Dear West Siders,
We truly hope you all enjoyed the Halloween Dance last Friday. Thank you to all who made this night possible.
Our next PTG meeting will be held on Nov. 10th @9:30am. Denise Campbell will be discussing the ELA scores and AIS and will answer any questions you may have on these topics. We will also have Mrs. Jane DeRosa (5th/6th grade Science teacher) discussing the research our children are doing on growth mindset and the importance of challenging the brain. She will also discuss how they will use the newsroom to create videos.
Please remember to like our Facebook page wssptg and check out our website wssptg.com for updated information and to see photos taken at our events.
There will be no PTG meeting in December, so we hope to have a large turnout on November 10th. Have a wonderful weekend!
Warm Regards,
Ana

Halloween Dance: Thank you so much to The Halloween Dance Committee Members; Aviva Franz, Elise Jusko, Michele Schmidt, Sandra O’Grady, Kristyn Mulada, Allison Monaco, Susan Goldstein, Jen Henick, Natalia Milhim and Heidi Cohen for making this year’s dance a huge success. Thank you to all the families that donated baked goods, fruit and snacks. The kids enjoyed those treats. The yummy pizza was from Lia’s in Syosset and the beautiful entrance decorations were donated by Scarsella’s Nursery. A special thank you to Mr. Simon, the security guards and especially the custodial staff, for all their hard work on Friday night.
Halloween Candy Drive: Save your teeth and share your sweets! Bring your leftover Halloween candy to the donation box in the lobby between now and November 12. It will be distributed to people in need at the Helping Hands Rescue Mission at their holiday parties. Thank you for your generosity!
West Side Kids Care: Thank you to all who donated to the West Side Kids Cares Coat Drive! We collected a huge number of kids, womens, and mens coats! Thank you to Ella Provisero and Ryan Smith who organized the donations along with their Goosehill siblings Lily and Luke!
On Thursday morning a representative from the Helping Hands Mission spoke to the students at morning assembly and shared a short video. She explained how many people will benefit from our school’s Coat Drive, Thanksgiving Food Drive, and Toy Drive. West Side Kids Cares is sending out an email regarding the details of the Thanksgiving Food Drive to each class. In the spirit of empowering our students to make a difference, we are suggesting that they take $1 from their own allowance to donate to the mission for families in need to purchase turkeys (each classrooms will have a box to collect the food and monetary donations). Thank you all for your continued support of the local families who appreciate our generosity.
HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE SAVE THE DATE-
Please save the date for our annual WS Holiday Boutique. This year, the children will be shopping with their classes on December 2 and 3 during school hours. A schedule of when each class will shop will be emailed and sent home via backpack in a few weeks. We are looking for volunteers on December 1 to help set up the displays, on December 2 and 3 to help the children shop and on December 3 to help break down the event. If you signed up already, an email will be sent for you to pick time frames. To volunteer, please contact Edra Tepper edratepper@verizon.net
