Message from the PTG President:

Dear West Siders,
It was great to see so many parents at Back to School Night! At the end of the night there was a wonderful feeling of excitement. Our annual West Side Win Fundraiser was in full swing! We have sold 162 tickets!!! Please purchase your tickets before they sell out!! We invite all ticket holders to join us on October 16th @7pm at the Acker residence to celebrate this fundraiser and to announce the winners of the cash prizes.
One of our goals this year is to keep you all informed of the events at West Side. Please use our website as a resource to get information. Approved PTG meeting minutes, agendas, teacher websites, briefs, committee descriptions and chairperson’s emails. plus so much more can be found on our website http://www.wssptg.com. Also, please like our Facebook page wssptg because reminders and pictures will be posted on our Facebook page as well. Let’s all communicate so we can make this year even better than years past.
I look forward to seeing you at our next PTG meeting on 10/13 @9:30am.

Photo Day is Thursday, October 8th. There will be no order forms distributed. Photo proofs will be sent to families via email a few days after photo day. All orders will be placed online. Any questions, please contact Ingrid Wright at wrights103@aol.com

West Side Win-
There are less than 40 tickets still available for the West Side Win! Buy your ticket before we sell out! Only 200 tickets will be sold! Thank you to all the families who have already purchased a ticket to support this fundraiser. Each raffle ticket costs $100. Make check payable to the WSS-PTG. All ticket holders are invited to the West Side Win Cocktail Party hosted by the Acker Family on Friday, October 16th at 7pm. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win. The party will have music, delicious food and of course great company! Grand prize is $2,500. Winners of the raffle will be announced at the party. Please help support the PTG and all of the programs it brings to our children by supporting this event. Beverages will provided, but donations are welcomed and appreciated. Recess Committee:
If you would like to volunteer at recess during the 2015/2016 school year, please contact Lauren Jasinski at WestSideRecess@gmail.com, if you have not added your name to the Recess Committee sign up sheet already. Volunteers must attend a brief committee meeting on October 13th at 9am prior to the PTG meeting.

THE BOOK FAIR IS COMING!
Mark your calendars! Get ready for West Side School’s annual Scholastic Book Fair! Come see the excitement that books bring out in our children! The book fair will be on Tuesday, October 20th and Wednesday, October 21st. You may come shop with your children when their classes shop the fair (a schedule will be out as it gets closer to the event) or you can join us for Family Time on Tuesday, October 20th from 3-5 pm. If you would like to volunteer to help out with this great event contact Jill DeMarco- jed1273@yahoo.com.

On Monday, September 28th, the West Side Garden Committee hosted their annual Tomato Sauce Day. They served the kids their homemade sauces and brought fresh herbs for the kids to taste. The kids enjoyed the sauces so much that they returned for seconds.Thank you Suzi Berg and your committee for providing the children such a tasty treat!

The 22nd Annual Little Apple Fun Run- Something fun to do on Sunday morning October 25th with the family and benefits the Lloyd Harbor School. 1 Mile Fun Run begins at 9:30am, 5K begins at 10:30am

YEARBOOK: We need your help to create a beautiful keepsake for our children. We need 2 parents to cover sales … this is done mostly online and you really don’t start until March. Also, needed are parents from 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade to prepare candid pages…we have no one from these grades on the committee and we really need your help. The work is minimal and yearbook pages can be done in your own time. It is as easy as using Shutterfly or creating a photobook. Any help would be most appreciated. Get your pictures in the yearbook! The Yearbook Staff invites students and parents to submit photos for the yearbook. If you’ve got great photos of school and community events or you and your friends just having fun, we’d like to see them. Our photographers can’t be everywhere. Help us get as many photos as possible to create a terrific book everyone will want to have.

• Browse to select the photo(s) you wish to upload.
• Enter information about the photo and provide contact information in case the staff needs additional information.
